Seth's Seat
When we first got to Beijing two weeks ago, Seth seemed to take to Chinese fairly well, but after a few days he shut down and only wanted to nurse. Now, I know it's pretty common for toddlers to have a sharp decrease in food consumption, but this was a little extreme. We thought maybe the problem was that Seth didn't have his own place to sit at mealtime. In the school cafeteria and at restaurants one of us had to hold him while the other fed him. Even when we got takeout from the cafeteria and brought it back to our apartment, Seth still didn't have a chair of his own. So yesterday we gathered up our courage and boarded our first bus in Beijing so that we could head to Ikea and purchase a highchair for Seth. We assembled the highchair right away and are pleased to announce that Seth has already started eating more. Though he's still pretty picky about Chinese food, he is eating yogurt and jarred baby food again. We also picked up a fun little rug for Seth, and he seems to have enjoyed his floor time more because of it. We're especially glad that he likes his new stuff since it took so much energy bringing it home on the bus!
