Indiana Road Trip

This past weekend we took a short road trip. We were originally planning to drive all the way to Louisville to visit our friends Jeremy and Luta and spend the entire weekend with them. But Seth has been having a hard time with all the traveling we've been doing this summer--he is definitely homesick for China!--and we thought it would be better if we left Seth with Grandma and Grandpa and were only gone for one night. So we met up around halfway in Anderson, Indiana. The plus side to this arrangement was that we were also able to spend time with our friend Melanie, who lives near Anderson.

We left early Friday morning and arrived at Melanie's apartment around noon. After a quick lunch we headed to the motel to meet up with Luta and Jeremy. We spent the day talking, talking, talking (and playing games and going swimming in the motel pool and eating Trader Joe's chocolates). There are only a very few people in this world with whom I can talk for hours on end, and Jeremy, Luta, and Melanie are three of them.

On Sunday we went to Melanie's church in Indianapolis, Evanston Wesleyan Church. It is a small church with a very friendly congregation. On the way to church we saw a liquor store called "21st Amendment." I thought it was a pretty interesting name for a liquor store, so I snapped a picture. It got me thinking about some other names for businesses or organizations, like "1st Amendment Church" and "2nd Amendment Gun Store." After the service, since we were so close to Trader Joe's, we made another stop there, and then went to Chili's for lunch.

It was a wonderful weekend, the only problem being how short it was. Luta and Jeremy, thanks for being willing to go out of your way to see us. Melanie, thanks for being willing to get together with us on such short notice. We miss you guys!
