Real Buttercream Frosting

1 cup butter at room temperature
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
up to 4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until well blended. Add salt, vanilla, and 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream. Beat on low speed until moistened. Add additional whipping cream to reach desired consistency. Beat on high speed until frosting is fluffy.
